Vinny Papale is the son of former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and special teams player Vince Papale. He played collegiate football at the University of Delaware and later played professionally in the United States Football League (USFL). In 1984, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL in the 17th round (247th overall) of the league's territorial draft. He played three seasons with the Stars, primarily as a special teams player and backup defensive back. After the USFL folded, he played one season with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL before retiring from football.
